Biography | Jillian Glenn Altman
If you were to survey my clients, they would tell you of my obsession with improving the looks of things. That I am a slave
to consistency and clear communication. That it is refreshing for a creative type to also understand the logic of marketing
and follow a budget. They know not to look for me at the office before noon, but that they can most likely find me there
well after the cleaning crew has left. They would call me flexible, well-versed, efficient. I’ve been known to come through
in the clutch.
If you were curious about my company, I would probably blush and refer you to one of my colleagues, who are much
better at sales. They would tell you I wasn’t satisfied with corporate options and that I knew I could do better. I would
tell you how I feel lucky to have worked hard enough to attract some good friends and colleagues to work with me.
If you were to survey my friends, they would refer to me as J.Glenn or Jilly, and most recently, some will say Donevan’s
wife. They may speak of my need to train on a daily basis, but that I would be hard-pressed to ever race with them
again. They might tell you stories of skiing bumps, running in the rain, and trying to make your day better. The might
mention how I yearn for spontaneous travel and that I become instantly impatient when hungry. If you couldn’t find me in
San Francisco, they would direct you to West Pearl in Boulder, but I’ve also been known to sneak away to Upper Magnolia for mid-morning runs.
If you were to survey my family, they would call me a stubborn perfectionist, whose loyalty rivals that of a military officer and whose competitive nature would surely be the death of me if not for my silly wit. My dad may even go so far as calling me an Idealist and that my favorite time of the day is sunrise when the world is quiet and I am awake. My husband might beg to differ--I am more agreeable after coffee. Not surprisingly, my mom calls me “little shit” and “impressive,” in the same sentence. My sister would tell you that I taught her to draw, but that she will be the one to become famous. And I would believe her.
If you were to survey my teachers, they would recall many office hours consumed with the question “why.” They would tell you stories of a Fine Arts student who enrolled in extra Accounting classes. And others would tell you of a Marketing major who pulled all-nighters in the photo lab.
If you were to inquire about my focus on real estate and construction, I would tell you that I stockpile a reserve of admiration for architecture and materials. When I really grow up, I want to build elaborate treehouses and decide what to do with them after they are constructed. The latter is evidence to why I am not a developer. Meanwhile, my laboratory will continue its research on fonts, colors, lines and shapes. My downtime will be consumed with social networking
and my desire to write something good and meaningful. I will start when I am convinced someone will read it.
